Frome Gateway Regeneration

Bristol City Council, is working in partnership with the local community to guide and shape the long-term transformation of the land either side of the River Frome in St Jude’s, between Cabot Circus car park and junction 3 of the M32. To do this, we’ve produced a Regeneration Framework to create a long-term vision and strategy for change in this area of proposed regeneration, which is called Frome Gateway.

The ambition for this part of St Jude’s is to create new homes, jobs and public spaces that better meet the needs of the city and the local community. You can read more about the project here

Our consultation on the draft framework is live

The framework proposes:

  • new homes
  • better community and public spaces
  • improved green and blue spaces, including the River Frome
  • new job opportunities

We worked with the community to develop and refine a set of Community Place Principles to define community priorities. You can read the Community Place Principles for Frome Gateway here.

Using the Community Place Principles and what we’ve learned about the community and the area, we’ve now developed a draft Frome Gateway Regeneration Framework, to describe how the area could change over the coming years. You can read the full document here or a summary version here. You can give you views on the draft Frome Gateway Regeneration Framework during the public consultation which runs from Monday 23rd October to Sunday 3rd December.

Less than a week until the Frome Gateway consultation closes

Tue 28th Nov 2023 at 18:00

Our programme of consultation events is all but over. We've hugely enjoyed discussing the framework with all who have attended the various briefings, exhibitions, walking tours and webinars. We've had over 300 attendees which is a testament to how much you care about change in the area. There have also been over 240 surveys completed demonstrating your desire to have your views heard. We thank everyone who has participated in the consultation thus far.

We now have less than a week until the consultation closes at midnight on Sunday this week, the 3rd of December. If you haven’t already, we greatly encourage you to complete the survey: https://www.ask.bristol.gov.uk/frome-gateway-2023.

There are a few spaces left on this week’s walking tour which is the final event of the consultation. You can sign up here if you’d like to join us. The walk will take place on Thursday 30th November from 12:30-13:30.

Once the consultation closes, we will be analysing the results and making any necessary amendments to the framework. All of this will be documented in our consultation and consultation response reports which we will share with you.

We remain on track to have the framework presented to Bristol’s Cabinet in February 2024. If endorsed, it will then become a live document within the planning system and will shape development in the area.

Today we are excited to launch a six-week consultation on the draft Frome Gateway Regeneration Framework. The framework sets out the proposed vision, strategy and priorities to guide the long-term transformation of the land either side of the River Frome in St Jude’s. The regeneration will see the area change from predominately industrial warehousing to a new residential-led neighbourhood with a mix of uses including employment and community space.

We thank everyone who has contributed so far; but we need your views again before the consultation closes at midnight on Sunday 3rd December. Complete the online consultation survey to share your thoughts and opinions: www.ask.bristol.gov.uk/frome-gateway-2023.

Visit our Have your say page to learn more about the consultation and the programme of activities that will be taking place.

We hope to see you at some point over the next six weeks and look forward to hearing your views!
